As someone who has begun teaching in hybrid or online programs, you know that it requires an integration of subject area expertise, teaching confidence, and technology know-how. Learning Forte’s experts have developed a course that will deepen your teaching capacity and increase your confidence to apply proven practices in your courses. During this six-week course, which includes five synchronous sessions and asynchronous content and learning activities, Stacy Williams-Duncan and Kyle Oliver, will guide you through applying proven pedagogical practices to your course design and provide you personalized feedback.

Course Details

The Design + Deliver: Intensive on Teaching Online & Hybrid Course focuses on the participant’s application of pedagogical and design principles for online and hybrid learning. Participants will be exposed to the integrated LF! pedagogical approaches and design resources through the six-week course, ready to apply the concepts in their teaching and instructional contexts. Using both asynchronous and synchronous learning opportunities, facilitators will give expert feedback on structuring and developing an online/hybrid learning environment for success. By the end of the six-week course, participants will have used introduced concepts and skills to plan, design, and execute online/hybrid learning opportunities. Design and Deliver: Foundations of Teaching Online & Hybrid Courses is a prerequisite to this course. The price includes access to the Foundations Course.

Stacy Williams Duncan

As a co-creative priest with over 20 years of experience in ordained ministry, The Rev. Stacy Williams-Duncan integrates teaching and learning, research and practice, theological education and ministry in and beyond parish, school, seminary, and digital contexts. Through Learning Forte she shares her expertise in pedagogy, curriculum design, change management, and digital learning.

Jenn Baker, Consultant for Integrated Learning
Jenn is a successful educator who uses strong organizational, pedagogical, and technical skills to design and implement effective and sustainable curriculum.  With a Bachelors in Anthropology and Religion from Sewanee, University of the South, Jenn has designed and implemented programs and curriculum in multiple schools and was the Digital Learning Specialist at Virginia Theological Seminary, where she provided technical and pedagogical support for faculty and staff.  


Deborah Coe, Ph.D., is a trained sociologist and founder of Compass Consulting and Research. She is the former director of research for two of the United States' largest mainline denominations. In her spare time, she teaches sociology at two Illinois colleges. A mother of two, grandmother of seven and avid geocacher and hiker, Deb lives in a northern suburb of Chicago with her husband and a very spoiled cat.


 

Hannah Graham, Consultant for Congregational Learning

Hannah's vocation is to create space for people to know God. She helps others create this space both online and onsite through conversations, learning, experiences, and community.  She graduated with a bachelor's degree in interpersonal communications from University of Notre Dame of Maryland.  For 15 years, she designed and implemented Christian formation programs for all ages in Episcopal congregations.  She is a trainer for the Education for Ministry program at Sewanee, University of the South and mother to 3 busy young boys.   

 

Shamika Klassen, Consultant and Content Developer 
After graduating from Stanford with a degree in African/African-American studies, Shamika served a year with AmeriCorps in NYC. She then studied technology and ethics in a Master of Divinity program at Union Theological Seminary in the city of New York where she also developed tech chaplaincy. She currently attends the University of Colorado Boulder as a doctoral student studying tech, ethics, and social justice issues.

 

Linda Lanam moved from teaching high school English and drama to a 30+ year career as a lawyer which she followed with more than a decade heading the Academic Resource Center at Virginia Theological Seminary. The one constant in her varied jobs has been her love of language and her desire to help people communicate more clearly and concisely. Today she works as an independent editorial consultant working with a variety of clients, individual and corporate. 


Kyle Oliver, Chief Product Officer
Kyle has taught or co-taught courses for Virginia Theological Seminary, Church Divinity School of the Pacific, Teachers College at Columbia University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Vibrant Faith Catalyst. An Episcopal priest, he has also served congregations in the Dioceses of Washington, New York, and California.  Kyle served as lead curator of Digital Learning @ Teachers College, an exhibition of innovative teaching and learning projects at the first and largest graduate school of education in the U.S.


Tania Schramm combines experience in communications and information technology systems development with a calling to ministry and faith formation. Her professional background in user experience design, as a systems analyst, and her M.Div. prepared her to accompany people who seek to engage, minister, teach, and learn in digital environments. 


Stacy Williams Duncan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Stacy holds an Education Specialist Degree from the School of Education and Human Services at the University of Virginia, and has spent over 20 years serving at Episcopal parishes, day schools, and seminaries on both coasts, and currently serves as the Rector of Little Fork Episcopal Church in Rixeyville, VA. As the founder and CEO of Learning Forte, she has built a team that integrates expertise in managing organizational change, teaching and learning, hybrid ministry, and effective use of educational technology.
